Killing Skills Music

Killing Skills Music is a music production, mixing, and mastering studio based in The Hague, Netherlands. It is run by Chris van Rootselaar and Jaap Wiewel, two producers and engineers with a track record of working with artists and projects from various countries.

Their work combines the creative aspects of production with the technical aspects of mixing and mastering. In addition to collaborating on numerous international releases, the duo has developed its own catalog of instrumental music that blends hip-hop, electronic music, and live instruments.

Studio integration

The V3 Acoustic 56RU Workstation brings together all the tools used for composition, recording, mixing, and mastering in a single workstation. The monitor, keyboard, and standard controls are located in the center of the workstation, while external processors are housed in the side rack spaces.

This separation clearly distinguishes the digital core from the area dedicated to analog processing. Chris and Jaap can switch from music creation and editing to mixing or mastering without changing workstations or using separate auxiliary racks.

The African rosewood finish visually ties the desk together with the wooden elements of the acoustic treatment. Its hue adds warmth to a room dominated by dark surfaces, electronic equipment, and ambient lighting.

Production, mixing, and mastering

Killing Skills is involved in every aspect of the sound development for its projects, from creating beats and arrangements to mixing and finalizing the release. This continuity ensures that the decisions made during production are carried forward into the subsequent technical stages.

His work combines programming, synthesizers, samples, and recorded instrumentation. The result is heavily influenced by hip-hop but also incorporates electronic textures, organic arrangements, and contemporary production techniques.

Throughout its career, Killing Skills has worked with artists from various countries and has participated in acclaimed productions within the international hip-hop scene. Among its most notable collaborations are projects with Polish artist O.S.T.R. and rapper Joe Kickass.
