Hidden Track Studios

Hidden Track Studios is a professional recording, production, and mixing studio located in Folkestone, Kent, United Kingdom. It is run by Oz Craggs, a producer and mixing engineer, and offers an environment designed to handle every stage of a project, from the initial recording to the final mixing decisions.

The studio features a separate recording room and control room, designed to provide effective soundproofing and an appropriate acoustic response for sessions involving instruments, amplifiers, and drum sets.

Studio integration

The V3 Acoustic 104RU Desk was custom-built for Hidden Track Studios in a straight configuration, unlike the angled version of the 104RU-A model. This layout creates a wide, continuous workspace along the length of the control room.

The console, main controls, and external processors are distributed across the work surface and the lower rack spaces. The upper shelf raises the screen and monitors, separating them from the area designated for editing and equipment operation.

The American walnut finish provides a natural contrast to the dark tones of the acoustic treatment and enhances the room’s warm character without compromising the technical sophistication expected of a professional studio.

Acoustic Design and Communication Between Rooms

The recording studio and control room were built as floating spaces and feature custom-made doors to improve sound insulation. Both rooms were evaluated during the design phase and after construction before the specific acoustic treatment for each space was installed.

The recording room offers a defined and controlled response for instruments and high-level sources, while the control room maintains a more neutral response for production and mixing.

Both spaces receive natural light and are connected by a large interior window. This opening maintains visual communication between the musicians and the engineer during sessions without compromising the acoustic separation between the rooms.
